Breaking Free: Embracing Generational Trauma and Redefining Family Love

Today reminded me that even in 2025, people still try to put conditions on your happiness.

So let's talk about what really happened — and why this message needs to reach every LGBTQ+ parent, every blended family, and every person tired of justifying their joy:

When I Had a Kid, No One Questioned If She Could Come Around

But now that I'm in a queer relationship with someone who has kids, suddenly I need to ask permission to bring my whole family?

Apparently, Love Comes with a Timeline

And if it's not straight, married, or "traditional," it's "too fast" or "not appropriate" for family gatherings.

But guess what? Love isn't on their timeline — it's on mine.

Whether It's Been 6 Months or 6 Years, My Partner and Her Kids Are Family. Period.

If you're showing up as your full self — building a new chapter, creating a blended family, choosing joy — and people are making you feel like you're doing something wrong?

You are not alone.

You Don't Owe Anyone Tradition

You don't need to water down your joy to keep others comfortable.

And You Absolutely Don't Need Permission to Be Loved or Respected

This is for anyone who's been made to feel like their love is "too much."

It's not. It's real. And it's yours.
